So the Best Shoes for Pickleball – do we have a name, a brand, a specific shoe?

We have names and brands but no, at this point in time we do not have a specific shoe for pickleball. It will come and no secrets on this are revealed here – but stand-by.

While most people play pickleball to have some fun and stay fit, there is a growing and thriving competitive scene.  Like all sports, to be the best you need the best of anything that you can get that will aid you in as many ways possible. Ok.. so back to the best shoes for pickleball

 – No, they are not gumboots! However, in the absence of a specific pickleball shoe, there are many many many suitable choices out there. The emphases should not really be a brand or a shoe but rather what is required in a suitable shoe.

Remember that you can play pickleball on a wide variety of surfaces from indoor timber and synthetic floors to outdoor concrete, asphalt and resurfaced techo tennis court surfaces. The main criteria to satisfy in shoe selection is primarily for indoors play which most shoes now satisfy and that is for the sole to be made of non-marking material.

Knowing that pickleball is played a lot like tennis requiring stop and start running, you are going to require a shoe that will provide the protection, comfort, and performance similar to that of one made and worn for tennis. This may or may not be a specific tennis shoe. It may be that you prefer a dedicated running shoe or even a cross trainer shoe. The choice really is yours.
